The
Principles:
James A. Smith, an exceptional idea man, new product development
scientist, experienced marketer, and prolific inventor started his R&D
career at Lever Brothers (Unilever). At Lehn & Fink, after formulating
Mop 'n Glo® and Beacon Floor Wax, Jim made the transition from formulation
chemist to marketing as Manager of New Products and was responsible for
Wet Ones®, and several Lysol® brand innovations. Jim was VP of R&D for
Airwick Industries and in charge of the entire product development program
including Binaca® line extensions, the introduction of StickUps® and the
revolutionary Carpet Fresh® Rug & Room Deodorizer. One of Jim's unique
talents is his ability to apply specific chemistries to unrelated categories
and create patent platforms that expand the technologies.
Betty Jagoda Murphy is a talented all-round new products entrepreneur
with a background in theater and psychology and a talent for communicating
with the consumer. She began her career in consumer products by focusing
on flexible, responsive consumer research techniques that efficiently
address marketing and R&D issues. Betty managed the consumer product testing
program for Lehn & Fink's new products department and was a member of
their concept development team. Prior to founding CPR in 1979 with Jim
Smith, Betty capitalized on her experience as a moderator and accepted
research assignments and concept development projects for numerous packaged
goods companies. As CPR's President and co-inventor, Betty was the company's
chief administrator and public relations spokesperson and toured the US
promoting CUSTOM CLEANER.
